Cross country skiing
The cabin resort of Skåbu is perfect for cross-country skiing with its extensive network of ski trails. Best of all: You won’t have to deal with queues on the ski slopes. In Skåbufjellet you can still hear the silence. Skåbu is Northern Europe’s highest village community and is snow-sure. See where and when there are ski trails.
Hiking
Skåbufjellet is teeming with trails and rough terrain. Skåbu is therefore the cabin destination for those who enjoy hiking. From Skardfjellet, just above the cabin plots in Skardfjellgrenda, you can see into four national parks: Jotunheimen, Reinheimen, Langsua and Rondane. During the summer months, there are several open roads that allow you to quickly get to Besseggen or Glittertind.

Bicycle
Skåbu is the cabin destination for those who like to use their bodies and keep fit. If you bring your bike to Skåbu, you’re in for a lot of varied cycling trips or cycling training on roads and trails.
Fishing
As early as the Stone Age, people fished in the mountain lake Olstappen in Skåbu. Fishing is still an important part of the culture in the mountain village. In addition to pole and line fishing, net and otter fishing have long traditions. Those who have a cabin in Skåbu can also fish in many good mountain lakes in the area.

Hunting
Stone Age people were already hunting and trapping at the mountain lake Olstappen 10,000 years ago. In the spring of 2014, archaeologists found burnt moose bones, remarkable traces of the ancient hunting and trapping culture in Skåbu. This is the oldest discovery of moose hunting in Norway, and among the oldest human finds in the country.
